Seniors and Disabled
Any person who meets RTA disability requirements or seniors age 60 or above are eligible for a discounted fare on all RTA fixed-route services. Customers must show appropriate ID each time they board a bus to receive the discounted fare. Seniors may show proof of age when boarding the bus to receive the discounted fare or they may obtain a Senior ID card from RTA. RTA Disabled ID cards, Senior ID cards and Medicare cards are accepted on the bus. Medi-Cal cards will not be accepted.
RTA offers photo ID cards for its senior and disabled customers. Cards are issued every second Tuesday of the month from 9 a.m. to noon at the YWCA, 8172 Magnolia Ave. in Riverside. A photo ID is required.
To receive your Senior ID card, you must show a photo ID and proof of age 60 or above. There is a $2 fee for the Senior ID card. To receive a Disabled ID card, individuals must show a photo ID and present a disabled application form completed by a doctor or licensed health care professional, or one of the following as proof of disability: Medicare Identification Card, Department of Motor Vehicles Disabled Person Placard Identification Card receipt, Braille Institute Identification Card, Disabled Veteran Service-Connected Identification Card, or a Social Security Income Award Letter along with proof of disability. Medi-Cal cards will not be accepted. There is a $2 fee for the Disabled ID card. NOTE: Medicare Card
Any person who displays their valid Medicare Card is eligible for a discounted fare on all RTA fixed-route services. Customers must show their Medicare Card each time they board a bus to receive the discounted fare.
Any person who meets RTA Veteran requirements, presents a valid U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs issued ID card or a U.S. Uniformed Services ID card indicating retired status. Customers must show appropriate ID each time they board a bus to receive the discounted fare.
RTA issued photo ID cards are available for veteran customers. Please call (951) 565-5002 for the location and time to obtain your ID card. There is a $2 fee for the ID card. To receive a Veteran ID card, individuals must present a Department of Defense Form 214 and a picture ID.
Active Military, Police and Fire Personnel
Any person who meets RTA active duty military, police or fire personnel requirements rides free on RTA fixed-route buses. Active duty military personnel must wear the appropriate uniform at the time of boarding or present to the driver a valid U.S. Unformed Services ID card indicating active service or a Common Access card indicating uniformed services or active duty. Police and fire personnel must be in full uniform at the time of boarding. Customers must wear the appropriate uniform or show appropriate ID each time they board a bus to receive the discounted fare.
Youth (grades 1-12)
Students in grades 1-12 may purchase and use a discounted Youth 30-Day pass with an appropriate current student ID card. Discounted youth 1-Day, 7-Day and cash fares are not offered.
Child (46" tall and under)
The base cash fare for any child 46" tall or under is $.25 on all local fixed route buses and $2.00 on CommuterLink buses.
