The
following actions were taken
by the RTA Board of Directors
at their monthly meeting held
on Thursday, October 28, 2004.
Public
Hearings Opened for RTA's
Proposed Fare Adjustments
RTA
staff will conduct public
hearings and accept comments
in November and early December
in efforts to collect feedback
on RTA's proposed fare adjustments.
There will be a total of
ten public hearings held
in communities throughout
RTA's service area. Members
of the public can review
the proposed fare adjustments
at the public hearings,
on RTA buses or on the RTA
web site, www.RiversideTransit.com.
The RTA's Board of Directors
will consider the proposed
fare adjustments at their
regular monthly meeting
on December 16th at 2 p.m.
If approved, the proposed
fare structure will take
effect April 3, 2005. (List
of times and locations of
public hearings is attached
to this email)
Route
202's $1.00 Promotional
Fare Extends into Next
Year
Passengers
who ride CommuterLink Route
202, between Murrieta and
Oceanside, will continue
to enjoy a $1 fare into
next year. The promotion
was originally slated to
end December 31st, but will
instead conclude when RTA's
fare study is complete.
Since
Route 202 is one of two commuter
routes that is being considered
for a reduced fare, RTA's
Board of Directors voted to
continue the $1 promotional
fare through the completion
of the fare study.
Agreement
with County of Riverside
Renewed to fund Route 50
In
partnership with RTA, the
County of Riverside will
continue to fund Route
50, providing service primarily
to jurors until June 30,
2005. RTA's original agreement
with the County expired
on June 30th of this year.
Since July, RTA has operated
this service on a month-to-month
agreement, while the County
of Riverside assessed whether
it would continue to fund
the service. Route 50 was
originally established in
conjunction with the Riverside
Superior Courts and the
County to transport jurors
from designated outlying
parking areas to the Court
House in downtown Riverside.
Although funded primarily
to transport jurors, the
route is open to the general
public.
Board
Bids Farewell to Director
of Marketing Jim Kneepkens
The
Board bid a fond farewell
to former RTA Director of
Marketing, Jim Kneepkens.
Board Chairman Jon Winningham
presented Kneepkens with
a commemorative clock in
appreciation of his contributions
to RTA. He noted that chief
among Kneepkens' accomplishments
at RTA were two Grand Prize
and three First Place Adwheel
Awards from the American
Public Transportation Association.
Kneepkens has accepted a
position at Community Transit
in Everett, Washington.
The
next Board meeting will be
held on Thursday, November
18th at 2 p.m.
