RIVERSIDE, CA — (October 24, 2007) — Wildfires in San Diego County and elsewhere affected Riverside Transit Agency (RTA) operations on Wednesday, halting service on one route and prompting another route to temporarily detour in Wildomar.
For the second day, RTA suspended service on Route 202 due to fires and road closures in San Diego County. Route 202 provides express service between Temecula and Oceanside, using portions of the Interstate 15 and Highway 76. Due to the wildfires, the California Highway Patrol has closed a portion of Highway 76.
On Wednesday afternoon, a small brush fire burning in the hills west of Wildomar near Lake Elsinore prompted the detour of Route 8. The detour lasted approximately one hour as fire crews battled the blaze just west of Grand Avenue.
Route 202 service will resume as soon as conditions have been deemed safe for travel. All other routes continue their regular service and hours of operation.
