RIVERSIDE, CA — (September 28, 2007) — The Riverside Transit Agency (RTA) has opened a public hearing period to receive comments on proposed route changes and new service.
The month-long period will include a series of community meetings in the cities of Beaumont, Calimesa, Corona, Hemet, Glen Avon, Lake Elsinore, Moreno Valley, Riverside, Sun City and Temecula. Persons attending those meetings may comment on the proposed changes, which are expected to be presented to the RTA Board of Directors at their October 25 meeting.
The community meetings will be held on the following dates, times and locations: Oct. 2, 1 p.m. at the Hemet Simpson Center, 305 E. Devonshire Ave.; Oct. 2, 7 p.m. at RTA Headquarters, 1825 Third Street in Riverside; Oct. 3 at 6 p.m. at Lake Elsinore Cultural Center, 183 N. Main Street; Oct. 4 at 2 p.m. at the Kay Ceniceros Community Center, 29995 Evans Road in Sun City; Oct. 10 at 6 p.m. at the Moreno Valley Council Chambers, 14177 Frederick Street; Oct. 11 at 2 p.m. at the Glen Avon Library, 9244 Galena Street; Oct. 11 at 7 p.m. at the Temecula Library, 30600 Pauba Road; Oct. 16, 7 p.m. at the Corona Civic Center, 502 Vicentia Avenue; Oct. 17 at 3 p.m. at the Calimesa Senior Center, 908 Park Avenue; and Oct. 17 at 7 p.m. at the Beaumont Civic and Community Center, 550 E. 6th Street. The community meetings are scheduled to last approximately one hour.
The proposed route upgrades were prompted in part by the recently completed Comprehensive Operational Analysis, an intensive study that identified ways for the Agency to meet the transit needs of the growing region. Slated for modifications are routes 1, 7, 8, 14, 33, 36, 38, 50, 61, 204, 206 and 208. The agency is also proposing the cancellation of Route 16E due to an overlap in service with another route, and the creation of Route 210, an express route that would travel Highway 60, linking the communities of Banning, Beaumont and Calimesa with Moreno Valley and Riverside.
