FREE TROLLEY SERVICE COMING TO RIVERSIDE ARTS WALK

RIVERSIDE, CA — (May 2, 2007) — The Riverside Transit Agency (RTA) will provide free trolley service on May 3 in conjunction with the Riverside Arts Walk, a public event that showcases the local talent in downtown Riverside.

The service, which will be a tripper of The Trolley’s existing Green Line, is designed to whisk patrons to participating museums, galleries and studios. The Trolley will operate between 6 and 9 p.m. on a circular route with •ve stops along Lemon, Orange and Market streets, and University and Mission Inn avenues.

“RTA is proud to participate in this wonderful event, which highlights some incredible local talents,” Chairman Frank Hall said. “Offering fast, convenient and free transportation is a great way to bring a new level of enjoyment to the event.”

Members of the public can board The Trolley at the following locations: the intersection of Main Street and Mission Inn Avenue, the intersection of Main Street and University Avenue, Orange Street just south of University Avenue, the corner of 10th and Lemon streets, and on Lemon Street just north of University Avenue in front of the Life Arts Building. The Trolley runs every 11 minutes.

Carolyn Quin, chair for the Riverside Cultural Consortium which presents the year-round event, said she intends to ride on The Trolley herself.

“The trolley will allow people to circulate and get to the galleries and museums easier than ever before,” she said. “We are absolutely thrilled to have this amenity.”

The Riverside Arts Walk draws hundreds people every •rst Thursday of the month to visit museums, galleries and artist studios with special monthly features and performances.

“The trolley has the potential to become a signi•cant component of the Arts Walk event. People will be able to travel to attractions with ease and enjoyment,” said RTA Board member and Riverside City Councilman Dom Betro.

The free trolley service will be sponsored by the Downtown Division of the Greater Riverside Chambers of Commerce.

The Riverside Transit Agency provides public transportation for Western Riverside County, operating 39 •xed routes, 5 commuter routes and 15 demand response services. RTA’s service area spans 2,500 square miles, the second-largest in the nation.
