NEW
OFFICERS ELECTED TO RTA BOARD
OF DIRECTORS
Norco’s Frank Hall becomes
new chairman, Canyon Lake’s
Frank Kessler and Corona’s
Karen Spiegel are new vice
chairs.
The Riverside Transit
Agency’s Board of Directors
has tapped Norco Mayor Pro-Tem
Frank Hall to take leadership
of the 18-member governing
board. As chairman, Hall will
be responsible for leading
the RTA Board in setting policy,
guiding Agency priorities,
conducting the Agency’s monthly
Board meetings and representing
RTA during public events.
He assumes the responsibilities
held most recently by Beaumont
Mayor Jeff Fox.
“To
be chosen by my fellow board members
is indeed a great honor,” Hall
said. “I am proud of the accomplishments
of this governing board and RTA
as a whole, and I look forward
to being a part of its future
success.”
Board
members also chose Councilman
Frank Kessler of Canyon Lake,
as the new vice chairman and Councilmember
Karen Spiegel of Corona as the
new second vice chair. Board members
typically serve one-year
terms, and elections are held
in December.
Said
Kessler: “This Agency is enjoying
a prosperous time of increased
ridership, customer satisfaction
and
growing popularity across the
region. RTA’s Board leadership
may change, but its goal of providing
excellence
in public transit will always
remain the same.”
Chairman
Hall has served on the RTA Board
since 1998. He is actively involved
on various Agency committees,
and is a member of the Corona-Norco-District
2 Transportation NOW Chapter.
He routinely participates
in RTA’s lobbying efforts, and
his repeated visits to Washington
DC have helped RTA collect much-needed
funds for various projects, including
the construction of the Riverside,
Corona and Temecula transit
centers.
Departing
Board Chairman Fox said his experience
on the board was positive, and
marked by important events
such as a successful contract
resolution with RTA drivers,
expanded
ridership, improved service and
the
creation of the U-Pass, which
allows UCR students to ride free
with a swipe of their student
ID card.
“It
was a pleasure to serve, and I
applaud my fellow board members
for their confi dence in me,”
Fox said. “This
year was a truly remarkable period
for RTA.”
