The
Riverside Transit

and the union
that represents
its bus
drivers and
mechanics aborted
plans for
a strike
Tuesday after both
sides reached
a tentative
agreement.
The
union and
RTA have
been in
negotiations for
the past
nine months
over the
terms of
a three-year
contract. The
proposal, which
affects more
than 260
drivers and
mechanics, will now
go to
the union
membership and
the RTA
Board of
Directors for
an offi
cial vote.
“We
are pleased
to announce
that the
pending transit
strike has
been averted
as RTA
and the union
representing the
drivers and
mechanics have
reached a
tentative contract
agreement,” said
spokesman Bradley
Weaver. “This
is great
news not
only for
RTA and
its employees but
for the
tens of
thousands of
customers who
rely on
RTA bus
service every
day.”
As
a result
of the
strike cancellation,
all bus
routes will
follow their
regular routes
and schedules.
Details of
the agreement
will be
forthcoming.
